Mica World Resources
India is a leading producer of muscovite followed by Brazil. Other producing countries are USA, Tanzania, Rhodesia, and Argentina. U.S. as a whole produces scrap mica. Leading manufacturers of phlogopite are the Malagasy Republic and Tanzania, the average annual production is 1000 tons and 300 tons respectively. Minor production is reported from Canada, Tanzania and India.
Industrial application of mica
Mica is used in a number of electrical and electronic devices in various shapes and sizes. As an insulation material is used in equipment like capacitors, transformers, radio and electronic tubes and radar circuits. It is used as washers, discs, tubes and plates.
Currently, mica finds increasing use in equipment that meet very high temperatures, as missiles, rockets and jet engines, the ignition system. Phlogopite used in spark plugs. Sheet mica, however, is not always available in the desired size, as required by industry.
Much progress has been achieved in making built-up mica is called micanite. Mica films are placed with alternating layers of binder materials such as shellac, alkyl, or silicon resin and then pressed and baked. Micanite is in common use today. It is convenient to cut or stab micanite in accordance with the requirements.
In the electron-field, natural mica is primarily used in the manufacture of capacitors, such as bridge-laying in electron tubes and as a panel-board, in which heat-resistance and low loss at high frequencies is not required. In such delicate equipment, mica fineness ranges from 0.015 inch and below, are used. Mica in the range from 0,007 'to 0,015' is used in bridge-struts. Even thinner films, between 0.004 "to 0.006" which are used as backing plates for the capacitors and further thinner films in the range of 0.0007 "to 0.002" as an insulator. Splitting of thin thickness were made using pin and knife only. Thus, you can find it mica should be suppressed.
Waste or scrap mica is always used as a ground mica. Land use mica to a large extent depends on its appearance, and lubricity. Both these characteristics depend on the methods of grinding, as well as the purity and character of the scrap.
Mica Crusher and Grinding Mill
Before using the mica, it is necessary to crush or grind it. SBM supply of mica crusher and mica grinding mill: Mica crusher, such as Mica jaw crusher, Mica cone crusher, mica, VSI crusher, mica mobile crusher and mica mill, such as mica ultrafine grinding mill, mica ball mill, and so on.
Mica crushing and grinding process
The common mica crushing plant consists of jaw crusher as primary crusher, Cone crusher as secondary crusher, vibrating feeder, vibrating screen and belt conveyor. Big size garnet is transferred to primary jaw crusher through vibrating feeder from hopper for first crushing, then the crushed mica is transferred to Cone crusher through belt conveyor for secondary crushing. The materials crushed will be transferred to the vibrating screen, and separated to different sizes. The final product with suitable size will be transferred to garnet grinding mill for further grinding. The grinding mill for grinding garnet can be ball mill or mica ultrafine grinding mill, which depends on the customers’ requirement.
