Silicon and silicon crushing technology

Introduction of Silicon

Silicon is a gray , brittle, tetravalent, nonmetallic element occurring abundantly in nature. Next to Oxygen it is the chief elementary constituent of the earth's crust. The symbol for Silicon is Si it's atomic number is 14 and it's atomic mass is 28.086. This element is almost always found in various compounds both in nature and in industry, in nature you find it in quartz, jasper, agate, flint, common beach sand, sandstone and many other common rocks and materials. In industry we find it as the main component in the most common building materials such as cement, bricks, glass and others. It is also used in many polymers such as Silicone rubber as well as thousands of other uses including heat resisting resins, lubricants, water resistant films etc.

Most silicon is used industrially without being separated into the element, and indeed often with comparatively little processing from natural occurrence. Over 90% of the Earth's crust is composed of silicate minerals. Many of these have direct commercial uses, such as clays, silica sand and most kinds of building stone. Thus, the vast majority of uses for silicon are as structural compounds, either as the silicate minerals or silica (crude silicon dioxide). For example, silica is an important part of ceramic brick. Silicates are used in making Portland cement which is used in building mortar and stucco, but more importantly combined with silica sand, and gravel (usually containing silicate minerals like granite), to make the concrete that is the basis of most of the very largest industrial building projects of the modern world.

Silicon raw material

Silicon metal is made from the reaction of silica (silicon dioxide, SiO2) and carbon materials like coke, coal and wood chips. Silica is typically received in the form of metallurgical grade gravel. This gravel is 99.5% silica, and is 3 x 1 or 6 x 1 in (8 x 3 cm or 15 x 3 cm) in size. The coal is usually of low ash content (1-3% to minimize calcium, aluminum, and iron impurities), contains around 60% carbon, and is sized to match that of the gravel. Wood chips are usually hardwood of 1/2 x 1/8 inch size (1 x. 3 cm size). All materials are received as specified by the manufacturer.

Silicon crushing process

The big raw silicon are fed to the jaw silicon crusher evenly and gradually by vibrating feeder through a hopper for the primary crushing. After first crushing, the material will transferred to impact silicon crusher or cone silicon crusher by belt conveyor for secondary crush; the crushed materials will then transferred to vibrating screen for separating. After being separated, the crushed silicon parts that can meet standard will be taken away as final products, while the other silicon parts will be returned to impact silicon crusher, thus forming a closed circuit. Size of final silicon products can be combined and graded according to customer's specific requirement. We can also equip dust catcher system to protect environment.

Silicon crushing equipment

Our silicon crushing equipment include jaw crusher, cone crusher, impact crusher and mobile crusher. Jaw silicon crusher is a primary crusher, which is often used to crush raw silicon and features high crushing ratio and easy maintenance. Cone silicon crusher is really a secondary crusher, which is used to crush the crushed material further and features as high performance, good stability, high reliability and widespread use. The impact silicon crusher is alse another crusher, which features Energy-efficient, unique structure, keyless connection, blow bar made from high chromium steel and impact plate having a special shape. Moblie silicon crusher is moveable and more convenient than the stationary silicon crusher, such as jaw silicon crusher, cone silicon crusher and impact silicon crusher.
